Maha MedTech Mission Launched to Boost India’s Medical Innovation

This initiative aims to transform India’s medical technology ecosystem by accelerating innovation, reducing import dependency, and promoting affordable healthcare solutions. The mission offers milestone-linked funding between ₹5–25 crore per project, with exceptional cases eligible for up to ₹50 crore. Eligible applicants include academic institutions, hospitals, startups, MSMEs, and MedTech companies. Collaborations across sectors are encouraged. The Maha MedTech Mission focuses on three core objectives: improving public health through priority disease technologies, ensuring affordability and accessibility, and enhancing self-reliance through indigenous development and manufacturing. The scope includes medical devices, diagnostics, implants, surgical tools, consumables, and software-based solutions. It supports emerging technologies such as AI/ML platforms, robotics, and point-of-care diagnostics. Projects aligned with national health priorities—like tuberculosis, cancer, neonatal care, and primary healthcare—will receive special attention. Beyond funding, the mission provides support through Patent Mitra for IP protection, MedTech Mitra for regulatory guidance, and a Clinical Trial Network for validation. Industry mentorship will also be available. The application process includes two stages. Concept Notes are open from September 15 to November 7, 2025, via . Shortlisted applicants will submit full proposals starting December 2025. The Maha MedTech Mission sets a new benchmark for healthcare innovation in India, empowering stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions.
