Maguire, Shaw, Martinez - Man United injury news and return dates ahead of Nottingham Forest

Manchester United return to Premier League action on Saturday when they take on Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. Ruben Amorim's men go into the game on the back of three straight victories after beating Sunderland, Liverpool and Brighton. The turnaround in form has left United sixth in the table , just two points off second. This weekend, they take on a Forest team languishing in the relegation zone after a disastrous start to the season. Amorim's side are also nearly at full health with just Lisandro Martinez the only long-term absentee. Fortunately, the centre-back is edging closer to his return after being out since February. So with that mind, MEN Sport bring you all the latest injury news from Old Trafford before we hear from Ruben Amorim... After netting the winner in the 2-1 victory over Liverpool nearly two weeks ago, Maguire missed the Brighton game due to a knock picked up in training. It's hoped he is back for the trip to the City Ground. What Amorim has said: "We have some doubts, we had some issues during the week, with Harry Maguire and Mason Mount. Knocks, but nothing serious." Possible return date: November 1 vs Nottingham Forest (A). Shaw's run in Amorim's team continued in the win over Brighton, despite him suffering from illness in the week prior. The United boss admitted the England international 'suffered' against the Seagulls, but it is expected that he will be OK for this weekend. What Amorim has said: "Luke Shaw is fine. He had a virus during the week," said Amorim when asked about Shaw. "He struggled a little bit in the game, but he's going to be ready for the next one." Possible return date: November 1 vs Nottingham Forest (A). Injury: Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) The Argentina centre-back suffered the injury against Crystal Palace at the beginning of the year. While United will not take any risks with Martinez, he could be available for selection just before November's international break. What Amorim has said: "I don't know [when he will return], he trained really well. Not with us, but on the next pitch and I was watching also the training. He's feeling well and the knee is responding really well, so I don't want to say one specific day or week, but he's near to starting the training with the team. "Then it depends whether he wins a place or not. That will depend on him, but closer to returning to [full] training." Predicted return date: November 2025 Here at The Manchester Evening News, we are dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United coverage and analysis.
