MAFS UK groom refuses to apologise as fans slam 'pretentious' comments

Married at First Sight favourite Keye Luke has said 'I'm not about to apologise' as viewers criticise his behaviour. The London-based reality star tied the knot with Davide Anica, originally from Portugal, and their relationship appears to be flourishing. They've even professed their love for each other , leading fans to believe they'll make it past the experiment . However, last night's episode (November 3) sparked doubts among MAFS followers, with many labelling Keye as 'pretentious'. As homestays are in full swing, Davide brought Keye to his Horsham home, keen to share his daily life with his new spouse, reports OK! . But Keye was far from enamoured with the small Sussex town. When asked how it stacks up against London, he quipped: "Well, they have a Greggs and we have a Gail's [Bakery]." During a tour of his flat, Davide pointed out his cleaning supplies. Keye interpreted this as a subtle dig because "everyone in London has a cleaner". The 33-year-old then revealed his true feelings about Davide's more laid-back lifestyle. He elaborated: "This home it is very different to my big, glass, modern apartment with a wine fridge and a Thames view. "It is slightly anxiety-inducing to see how D lives. I couldn't live the lifestyle that I love here," Keye added. Subsequent scenes showed Davide surprising Keye with a visit to a cat café, but this too ended on a sour note. Upon arrival, Keye remarked: "Would I have rather a dog café? Of course, but I don't have to take any of them home with me." Speaking to producers, he added: "My idea of a surprise is going to get diamonds or maybe a nice glass of champagne, not cats." The duo found themselves locked in a blazing row after Keye confessed he wouldn't be "overly playful" with Davide's three cats because he prefers dogs. The explosive episode has sparked viewers to slam their once-beloved star. Flocking to Reddit, one fumed: "Completely gone off Keye if I'm honest. He's coming across so snobby and pretentious, does anyone feel the same?" Fellow fans agreed, with some declaring his "mask has well and truly slipped". Another user commented: "Keye's true colours are coming out," whilst a fourth chimed in: "And it's not looking good." Now, the E4 personality has hit back on Instagram to set the record straight. Posting on Tuesday (November 4), he declared: "If I came across as entitled, that's okay. "I've worked hard for everything I have, and I'm not about to apologise for enjoying the beautiful things I've built around me. Most of what I say is tongue in cheek and the rest... well that's just gay sass." Keye continued by revealing that his foul temper at the cat café stemmed partly from Davide's three pets living with his former partner at the time, which made the topic awkward. He penned: "Being put in a small, dark space after I'd made it very clear that I'm claustrophobic wasn't exactly my idea of fun. "Small spaces and feeling trapped send me straight into panic and anxiety mode add to that a strong disliking for cats and you get, well a Keye shutting down." The Londoner then "sprinkled in" more context, saying: "Those cats were living with his ex-fiancée at the time. "So, the constant mentions? Not exactly top-tier conversation material for anyone with an ounce of emotional intelligence on a 'fun', surprise 'date'." Married at First Sight UK continues on E4 tonight at 9pm
