MAFS UK couple's relationship hits rock bottom as fans predict split

Married at First Sight fans are certain one couple's romance is 'doomed' following a devastating scene. This week, Steven and spouse Nelly have found themselves at the heart of controversy, with the groom facing criticism from both experts and audiences for his behaviour and explosive reactions. He's also endeared himself to fellow brides, including April and Julia-Ruth, and has sided with Julia-Ruth during a dispute with Nelly. The outlook remains bleak for the pair as they nearly ended things during this week's commitment ceremony on the sofa. Nevertheless, they chose to persevere, though Steven and Nelly continue to face difficulties in their partnership. During tonight's instalment of the E4 reality series, Nelly was reduced to tears as their marriage reached crisis point, reports OK! . Whilst discussing their relationship with Leisha and Reiss at dinner, Steven confessed "it feels like a break up". A worried Reiss questioned the duo: "Do you think that you both drop them walls for each other." Steven spoke candidly, responding: "Not fully. No." Nelly was clearly unprepared for this revelation as she emotionally stated: "I did, I came into this I was open and vulnerable, I am hurt." The bride was visibly emotional as she continued: "Even last night, I came back and I just cried. I was like, it feels like a breakup. I'm really sad." Observing from the side-lines, relationship expert Mel commented: "Watching Nelly tonight, it looks like she's coming to that realisation that perhaps this is not the right relationship for her to be in and it's all hitting her. And this is what we see at this end of the experiment, isn't it?" "Quite often, where things become really serious and they're starting to think about this relationship in the context of the outside world as well." Returning to the dinner table drama, Steven admitted: "You do deserve the world, and I've said this before. But it's like, I'm not doing things that you need." Becoming emotional, Nelly responded: "Well I know so where do I go from here?" Home viewers were swift to express their opinions, declaring the pair's romance "doomed" whilst highlighting Steven's apparent indifference. One supporter posted on X, formerly Twitter: "Nelly and Steven are doomed, but equally, sulking and moping isn't going to change his feelings #MAFSUK #MAFS." A second viewer declared: "Steven doesn't care about Nelly nor does he respect her!!! #Mafs #MAFSUK #MAFSUK2025 #MarriedAtFirstSight." Another fan observed: "Nelly, Steven is not your person, I can bet on that and he doesn't respect you." A fourth person suggested: "Nelly and Steven need to leave the experiment, their relationship is not healthy at all." Throughout his time on the programme, Steven has left audiences stunned with his persistent criticism of his spouse, and last night proved no exception. They participated in Wife Swap, where the couples exchanged partners for a few days, with Steven paired up with April and Nelly moving in with Reiss. During a drink with April, Steven made a harsh comment about his wife, only to retract it swiftly. When April asked Steven: "What would Nelly be up to now?" He didn't mince words, responding bluntly: "Probably in bed already... boring f***!" – but he quickly apologised afterwards. MAFS UK airs Sunday to Wednesday on E4 at 9pm.
