Madonna announces new album and says she’s heading ‘back to the dance floor’

Madonna is going “back to the dance floor” with her new album which is believed to be called Confessions on a Dance Floor Part 2.

The “Vogue” singer announced her new album on Instagram today (Thursday 18 September). She shared a carousel of rose-coloured images of herself in a lacy garment with a purse that reads “Pussy power” and gold heels.

“Almost 2 decades later – And it Feels like home with Warner Records!” Madonna wrote in the caption confirming a return to Warner Records. This was followed by, “Back to music, Back to the Dance Floor, Back to where it all began!” She then added, “COADF [Confessions on a Dance Floor]- P. 2 🪩 2026.”

Of course, the announcement has caused a lot of excited reactions from Madge’s fans with one writing, “Gorgeous.” Another added, “THE QUEEN IS COMING BACK,” while someone else put, “BEST THURSDAY E V E R !!!!”

As reported by Variety, Madonna said in a statement, “From being a struggling artist in New York City to signing a record deal to release just three singles, it seemed at the time my world would never be the same again and in fact that couldn’t have been truer.

“Since the beginning, Warner Records has been a real partner with me. I am happy to be reunited and look forward to the future, making music, doing the unexpected while perhaps provoking a few needed conversations.”

Variety also reports Madonna is reuniting with DJ Stuart Price with whom she worked on Confessions on a Dance Floor increasing the likelihood the new album is a sequel to the 2005 album.

Confessions, Madonna’s tenth studio album, features iconic tracks such as “Hung Up,” “Jump,” and “Sorry.” Heavy on a disco and electro-pop sound and in contrast to her previous album, American Life, was more about being fun and free.

The album spent two weeks at number one in the UK Official Albums Chart and it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. Confessions earned Madonna a Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album.

The other big Madonna project that fans will be keen to hear updates on is the status of her biopic. News of the biopic was first announced as long ago as 2020, with the singer set to write and direct the film. Since then there have been several delays. The next update came last year when Madonna hinted that the project could become a series instead.

In July, Julia Garner, who has been cast the “Papa Don’t Preach” singer, confirmed the project is “supposed to still happen”. Garner added, “Anything that’s great, takes a long time.”
