Made in Chelsea's Sam Vanderpump issues update after end-stage liver disease diagnosis

Made in Chelsea's Sam Vanderpump has issued a health update after being diagnosed with end-stage liver disease . The 28-year-old reality star, who is currently waiting to discover if he's eligible for a liver transplant disease, appeared on Wednesday's (November 5) episode of This Morning . He was joined on the sofa by his pregnant fiancée Alice Yaxley as he spoke to hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shepherd about receiving the news that he needed vital surgery via an NHS app alert. He explained: "It was crazy because there was such a radical turn. It was definitely a shock and I was quite frantic and I got in touch with my doctor. "He said 'I can only apologise. I only sent the letter, pressed submitted and I suspected I had a few days to give you a call before the letter reached you. I didn't think you were going to get the notification on the app'. but it's just one of the those things, technology is too good nowadays." Sam continued: "I said to him 'I don't understand because I feel perfectly well'. I sit here today and I could probably go for a run and I'm not jaundice. "He said to me 'I understand that but I wouldn't have this conversation with you if i didn't think in four or five years time your liver wouldn't be okay'. Sam was born with the rare conditions polycystic kidney disease and congenital hepatic fibrosis of the liver and earlier this year the TV personality "nearly died" after getting sepsis, which is caused by liver and kidney failure. He's been told there's no hope of his liver recovering and will undergo an assessment to determine whether he can have a transplant in order to save him. Speaking on Made in Chelsea earlier this month, Sam told his co-stars: "There is no hope of my liver getting better, and he said I wouldn't be having this call with you if I thought you could make it through the next four or five years." End-stage liver disease is the final stage of liver damage, when your liver is damaged beyond repair due to chronic liver disease or acute liver failure. According to the NHS, patients with end-stage liver disease can also develop kidney failure. Following Sam opening up about his diagnosis, the official account for NHS Organ Donation wrote: "You may have seen on #madeinchelsea, that one of the cast members Sam Vanderpump needs an organ transplant. "Our thoughts are with Sam and his family as they face this news. We hope that his courage in speaking out will offer inspiration to others. "Sadly, thousands of people are currently waiting for a life-saving transplant because not enough people agree to donate their organs. "If you want to be an organ donor and save lives after your death, please confirm your decision on the NHS Organ Donor Register and ensure your loved ones know and support your decision." This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am and Made in Chelsea is available to stream on Channel 4
