Harmanpreet Kaur became the second Indian captain to lead her team to a final of an ODI World Cup when they defeated invincible Australia in the semi-final. Given Australia's domination in the World Cup, a chase of 329 was going to be a tough task for the home team. Despite losing an early wicket, India stayed in the game and chased down the target in 48.3 overs with five wickets in hand. Following the semi-final, the India captain said that they made few mistakes but have been learning from them. "Very proud. I don't have words how to express myself. Feeling great, this time we have crossed that line which we have been working towards for so many years. (On what she said to the head coach after the win) We spoke to each other that we have done this because we have been working so hard. Both of us are really proud of this team. We have that trust that any player can win any match from any situation. Made few mistakes but we have been learning from our mistakes," she told Star Sports. "Today, wanted everything to go in our favour in every situation, and kept telling ourselves to be there for the team, and that worked for us." Harmanpreet played a captain's knock and slammed 89 off 88 balls. Batting with a strike rate of 101.14, Harmanpreet slammed 2 sixes and 10 fours in her knock. Jemimah Rodrigues was the star with the bat and she remained unbeaten on 127 off 134 balls. Coming out to bat at number 3, Rodrigues continued to hold one end even as India lost four more wickets. Deepti Sharma scored a crucial 24 off 17 balls. Richa Ghosh played an impactful knock of 26 off 16 balls. Amanjot Kaur slammed 15 off just 8 balls. She hit the winning boundary to take India home.
