MacBook Pros could finally get an OLED display next year, if a new report proves true.
Korean publication The Elec is reporting that Apple is turning to Samsung Display to manufacture the panels starting next year.
Reportedly, Samsung Display will make OLED screens for the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros starting in the spring. Meaning the updated Apple laptop could launch later in the year. The display maker is allegedly going to make an initial production run of two to three million units, though it can get up to 10 million if necessary.

M5 MacBook Pro — all the rumors we’ve heard so far
Currently available MacBook Pros feature mini-LED displays. An OLED upgrade should bring increased brightness, deeper blacks, improved power efficiency and better contrast. If true, it could compete with the best laptops available.
Typically, Apple launches new MacBooks in October. We expect Apple to launch an M5-powered MacBook Pro this October, and it will likely retain the mini-LED screen.
Will 2026 be the year of OLED?
The report from The Elec is only the latest in a history of rumors regarding OLED displays on the MacBook Pro.
In the last month alone there were rumors that we wouldn’t see a MacBook Pro OLED until 2027, which contradicted another rumor from only days prior that we would see an OLED panel on the M6 MacBook Pro in 2026.

Next year could see even more screen upgrades with the long overdue elimination of the notch. The first MacBook to be notch-free since 2020.
Beyond that the M6 chip is rumored to be built for Apple Intelligence and we expect to see significant performance boosts compared to the M4 chip. We won’t know how it compares to the M5 until we get to test it out in the MacBook Pro that should debut in October of this year.
