Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and other officials are hosting a press conference on Monday morning to announce details about the second phase of the statewide campaign commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States. They will join business and cultural leaders at 10 a.m. at the Old South Meeting House in Boston to announce MA250: Road to 2026. America250, the official nonpartisan entity charged by Congress with planning the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, has announced a series of national tentpole programs and events to commemorate and celebrate the semiquincentennial of the United States. A major celebration, including a full military parade, is planned for the anniversary itself on July 4, 2026, but there are a series of events being held across the country in the year leading up to it. You can find a full calendar of events here. Massachusetts announced a series of events at a kickoff event in September of 2024, but plans to announce new details at Monday's press conference.
