M5 iPad Pro Gets The Unboxing Treatment Before Official Launch, Followed By Benchmarks Showing Nominal Gains Over M4

Apple’s supply chain has made a ‘boo boo’ for the second time because an unreleased 13-inch M5 iPad Pro has made it into the hands of a YouTuber before the company has issued an official press release. While the technology giant begins its investigation into how this unit landed in a content creator’s hands, we can check out the unboxing clip and a few benchmarks to accompany the experience.
Design of the M5 iPad Pro appears nearly identical to its immediate predecessor, indicating that the release will just be a chipset upgrade – GPU offers the biggest performance improvement
The YouTuber Wylsacom got his hands on the larger M5 iPad Pro, with the 256GB model in his possession. The last time the content creator made an unboxing and benchmarking video of an Apple product before it was launched was the 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro. Sadly, the design of the new tablet appears practically unchanged from the M4 iPad Pro. This lack of external changes indicates that the M5 iPad Pro was just meant to be an iterative update, which might explain why the company is taking its sweet time to launch it.
Now, let us come to the part that the majority of readers clamor for; the benchmarks. In a nutshell, the M5 iPad Pro offers a decent improvement over the M4 iPad Pro, but it is nothing earth-shattering. However, the biggest difference can be spotted in Geekbench 6’s Metal benchmark, where the new chipset obtains more than a 30 percent performance improvement over the M4. As for the smallest improvement, this was in AnTuTu. You can check out all the scores, comparisons, and differences below.
Geekbench 6 single-core and multi-core scores
M5 iPad Pro (4,133 points) vs M4 iPad Pro (3,748 points) – M5 iPad Pro is 10.27 percent faster in the single-core test
M5 iPad Pro (15,437 points) vs M4 iPad Pro (13,324 points) – M5 iPad Pro is 15.86 percent faster in the multi-core test
Geekbench 6 Metal scores
M5 iPad Pro (74,568 points) vs M4 iPad Pro (55,702 points) – M5 iPad Pro is 33.87 percent faster
AnTuTu

The unboxing of the M5 iPad Pro hints that Apple could announce the flagship slate in a few days, assuming this is what the company is planning because this is exactly what happened shortly after the YouTuber put out his M4 MacBook Pro unboxing video.
