The Georgetown Mayor and City Council (M&CC) has begun removing illegal signs, posters and advertisements on streets, pavements and parapets around the city. According to a press release issued yesterday, the M&CC also reminded business owners and vendors that no permission was granted for the placement of signs or structures. These unauthorized installations contribute to visual clutter, obstruct pedestrian movement and interfere with the city’s beautification and maintenance efforts, the release said. It called on all individuals, vendors and businesses to remove any encumbrances from the city’s pavements, roads and parapets immediately to avoid enforcement action. The M&CC said it remained committed to maintaining order, cleanliness and safety throughout Georgetown and thanked stakeholders for their continued cooperation.
