Nick Saban faced Brian Kelly three times before retiring. And with that short timespan, the GOAT boasted a 2-1 record against the former LSU head coach. Kelly strongly rooted for Saban to make a comeback to head coaching in college football. Hardly did he know that months later, the LSU Tigers would be planning to dish out a lucrative offer to Saban to fill his shoes. Across the last few weeks, GOAT has denied any interest in returning to the sidelines. However, here comes NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay with his spicy take. On October 28, McShay posted a clip from his podcast. The caption read, “I believe the next hire will be “one of them””. Saban, Lane Kiffin, and Dan Lanning are in LSU’s radar, according to the analyst. However, to him, the Tigers could make Saban reconsider. “LSU is going to make an offer to Nick and Miss Terry that will force them to reconsider their justifiable stance of ‘at this point in our lives, working College GameDay, ESPN, ABC is where we where we belong.’ It’s healthier. Nick’s enjoying it. Miss Terry, loving it,” said McShay. ADVERTISEMENT Article continues below this ad Saban makes $500,000 annually in his new advisory role at Alabama, according to AL.com. However, the salary he receives for holding a role in ESPN’s College GameDay desk remains undisclosed. But it’s assumed to be higher than that. In that case, LSU will have to bring a more lucrative offer to the table. “I don’t think $100 million over X amount of years would necessarily be enough. He’s got money, he’s got rings, he’s got everything that you could ever imagine a coach when you set out to be a college coach could have, right? But this might be the only place that he might say, well, let’s, let’s sit down and talk,” said McElroy. This was further doubled down by SEC Network host Peter Burns. Doesn’t matter the cost.” However, it can be assumed, no amount of money will be enough to mould Saban towards LSU. After all, the GOAT’s connection to the program runs deep. And it can’t be valued with money. Long before Tuscaloosa claimed him, he was the architect of LSU’s rebirth, the man who brought home the 2003 national title and restored Tiger pride. His early-2000s reign built a culture that still echoes through Death Valley, and Baton Rouge hasn’t forgotten. From 2000 to 2004, Saban served as head coach of the Tigers, winning one BCS title and compiling a 48-16 overall record. So, looking at a program that he has nurtured with his own hands, it will have to come from within. And while listening to his heart, Saban got to listen to his daughter, too. Being always vocal on social media, Kristen reposted it on her IG story with a blunt jab, “Some of y’all are literally brain dead.” So, it’s evident that Saban will not get her daughter’s approval about the LSU switch. But things might be different for the Kiffin family. Just like Saban, Lane is very close to her girls. While the Ole Miss head coach’s name has picked up the buzz to be filling Kelly’s seat, unlike Kristen, Landry Kiffin would want her dad to accept the offer. The reason? Landry Kiffin has already switched fanbases. During the Ole Miss vs Oklahoma face-off, she had ditched the Ole Miss jersey and donned Whit Weeks’ LSU jersey, whom she is reported to be dating. On the other hand, Nick Saban’s daughter, Kristen, still ensures to show up in a Crimson Red outfit for Game Days, like she did as Alabama hosted Tennessee at Tuscaloosa. A year may have passed since Saban stepped away, but his daughter’s heart never left Alabama. So, convincing her to cheer for LSU is a battle he won’t easily win.
