The LSU Tigers are on the hunt for their next head football coach following the dismissal of Brian Kelly. The school fired Kelly after the Tigers' 49-25 loss to the undefeated Texas A&M Aggies in Death Valley, marking the program's third loss in the last four games. Kelly, former head coach of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, signed a 10-year, $100-million contract with LSU before the 2022 season. With his dismissal, the school owes him more than $50 million for a contract buyout. Several names have been floated as possible replacements for Kelly in Baton Rouge. Many of these options — like Lane Kiffin, Eli Drinkwitz and Lincoln Riley — are head coaches at the college football level. But one popular name currently makes his money as an NFL assistant. On Tuesday, USA Today identified Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady as a top candidate to replace Kelly as the Tigers' next head coach. During his time in Baton Rouge, he led an offense featuring NFL superstars Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson. Brady took over as the Bills' quarterbacks coach in 2022, coaching reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen. He's since been promoted to the offensive coordinator position under head coach Sean McDermott. The Bills' offense ranks third in NFL yards per game (382.9) and fourth in NFL points per game (29.6). In Sunday's Week 8 win over the Carolina Panthers, Brady's unit amassed 410 yards of total offense and scored 40 points. LSU has the week off this coming weekend as they acclimate to interim head coach Frank Wilson. On Nov. 8, the Tigers will travel to Tuscaloosa for a tough SEC matchup against the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide.
