LSU Closing in on Coaching Changes After Brian Kelly's Bad Night

The heat is only getting hotter for LSU head coach Brian Kelly after voices at Tiger Stadium were amplified on Saturday night. The Tigers were blown out 49-25 by No. 3 Texas A&M in front of a crowd of 101,924 fans in Baton Rouge. More News: LSU Fans Turn on Brian Kelly With Brutal Chant Many LSU fans exited Tiger Stadium early in the fourth quarter. The ones who stayed chanted for the program to “fire Kelly” as LSU lost its second game in a row and fell to 5-3 before they travel to play No. 4 Alabama in Week 10. It was a bad night for the head coach, as ABC broadcast cameras caught Kelly having animated conversations with his coaching staff and quarterback Garrett Nussmeier amid numerous mistakes in the lopsided contest. There has been mounting outside pressure on LSU to make a coaching change at the top, but Kelly’s approximate $52 million buyout is prohibitive. However, the school is looking to enforce some sort of modification. But with a buyout north of $53 million and six years remaining on his contract, the Tigers will see how the final stretch of games goes. “Sources have told On3, however, that coaching staff changes could come as soon as Sunday afternoon. LSU’s offense ranks No. 83 in FBS, averaging 366.6 yards per game.” In his fourth season at LSU, Kelly is 34-14 overall and 19-10 in SEC play. The Tigers have four games remaining in the season. Following their trip to Tuscaloosa in Week 10, LSU will play Arkansas, Western Kentucky and finish the season at No. 13 Oklahoma. LSU began the season with College Football Playoff expectations and a No. 9 preseason ranking, but is likely going to fall out of the rankings after losing a third game in four contests.
