LPB's 'Behind the Glory' returns for third season

Coushatta native Vickie Johnson will be the subject of Thursday’s episode of Louisiana Public Broadcasting’s “Behind the Glory” at 8:45 p.m.
“She may have started out as a small-town girl, but Vickie Johnson has reached huge heights, both as a standout professional basketball player and as a coach in the WNBA. But no matter where she goes, Johnson says her success is rooted in her family and the small-town community of Coushatta,” the show’s description states.
Johnson, a shooting guard, played for Louisiana Tech University before being drafted by the WNBA’s New York Liberty, then playing for the San Antonio Silver Stars. She also coached for the Stars, Las Vegas Aces, Dallas Wings and Atlanta Dream. She was one of the WNBA’s first Black female head coaches.
“Behind the Glory” was developed by LPB as a spinoff of its annual live coverage of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
“This short-form series has become a standalone favorite — bringing audiences memorable, Louisiana-focused stories that go behind the headlines to capture the spirit of Louisiana athletics,” an LPB release states.
Lyn Rollins hosts.
Each episode follows the journey of a Louisiana sports legend. Viewers can stream past episodes of all three seasons at www.lpb.org/behind-the-glory and on the LPB YouTube channel.
Funding for the program is provided by Natchitoches Convention & Visitors Bureau, celebrating the charm, history and culture of Louisiana’s oldest city, and the Foundation for Excellence in Louisiana Public Broadcasting.
