Today’s forecast calls for light northerly or variable winds. The weather will be mostly clear, though isolated showers are expected in the south and west early in the day.
By afternoon, a rapidly deepening low-pressure system south of Iceland — named Amy — will begin to move closer, tracking northeastward while currently situated between the British Isles and Norway.
According to the Icelandic Meteorological Office:
“The low will remain fairly distant from Iceland and is therefore not expected to have a major impact here. However, strong northwesterly gales are likely in the east of the country, with sharp gusts possible early on Saturday. This could mean hazardous travel conditions for high-sided vehicles, and people in the area are advised to secure loose objects.”
