WELL-KNOWN Mojacar running club, Los Bandidos, have completed the 14th race of the Popular Race Circuit of the Almeria Province, held in Rioja on Saturday, September 13. The race, spanning three laps and 7.65 kilometres in total, was a challenging affair through 27ºC heat, despite the late start at 7:00pm.
In total, the race saw 194 finishers, the fastest of whom clocked in at 22:57. The participating runners were each awarded a commemorative backpack and post-race drinks and snacks, and trophies were awarded to the top three in each age group, as well as the overall winners.
Los Bandidos were particularly successful, collecting four age-group trophies and with several runners surpassing their personal records. The team overall finished 12th, with a total time of 2:32:36.
Earlier this month, the team also tackled the 13th race in the circuit, taking place in the municipality of Vera, and they are known to tackle other challenges as well, including nighttime races.
The locally famed group is well known in the province, as they regularly participate in local race and sports events. Moreover, they are known to give back to the local community, regularly donating to charities, and are currently collecting non-perishable food items for the Red Cross Food Bank.
