Lorraine Kelly admits 'it's been difficult' as she opens up on ITV future

Morning TV icon Lorraine Kelly opened up about the ITV cuts as she admits "it's been difficult". ITV is undergoing severe cuts, which includes Lorraine's airtime being cut from one hour to 30 minutes whilst also moving to a 30-week 'seasonal basis'. Despite this Lorraine says she is feeling more positive about the new schedule as the changes approach. Speaking to Woman magazine, Lorraine added that the majority of the Lorraine show team – many of whom have been working with her for over 20 years – have managed to find other rôles within ITV's new structure and so she's optimistic that they won't lose touch. She said: "They might not be working with me but they will certainly be working on daytime. Even the ones that aren't staying, they're friends, so I'll still see them." The star admitted that it's a very different media landscape now, compared to when the Lorraine Show was launched in September 2010: "I knew there had to be cutbacks and there had to be changes. "There are so many more outlets now," she added, "and television has to cut its cloth in every single department..." Lorraine says that she's "a lot happier" about the changes now that she's had time to digest what they'll mean to her and the rest of her team. She added: "As I keep saying to everybody, this is just another change and who knows what will happen in six months?' They might want to expand it, they might not. Who knows?" Familiar faces such as fashion expert Mark Reyes and showbiz reporter Ross King will still be making regular appearances, Lorraine says, and while the show will have to be "tighter" because of its reduced length, "it will still be the show people expect." Dismissing speculation that the show could be scrapped altogether, Lorraine told the Mirror : "I don't see me going anywhere until people get fed up, you know? Until people say, 'I've had enough of that one.'" With more time on her hands, Lorraine is talking about a couple of new ventures. She's speculated about doing more travel shows in the future and has revived the podcast she launched with her daughter back in 2021. Rosie explained that their pause was due to her baby daughter, Billie. Lorraine noted that her granddaughter has now passed the one-year mark, describing how fast time has gone as 'scary'. The ITV presenter continued: "You were pregnant during the last series of What If? Weren't you? Now, here we are now with a wee one." The duo promised chats about "about life's turning points" with some very special guests in the future, with Wet Wet Wet singer Marti Pellow lined up for the first episode.
