Lola Young Speaks Out After Collapsing On Stage During Festival Performance

Lola Young has issued a statement after collapsing on stage over the weekend.

The Messy singer made an appearance at the All Things Go festival in New York on Saturday, but during a rendition of her song Conceited, she alarmed fans when she suddenly fell backwards in the middle of her song.

Crew members then surrounded the British performer and helped her off stage, as reported by Today, with Lola assuring her fans she was doing better hours later.

“For anyone who saw my set at All Things Go today, I am doing okay now,” she wrote on Instagram. “Thank you for all of your support.”

The following day, Lola announced she would be unable to perform at the same festival’s stop in Washington DC.

“I love this job and I never take my commitments and audience for granted so I’m sorry to those who will be disappointed by this,” she insisted. “I hope you’ll all give me another chance in the future. Thank you to all those who listen and care.”

Addressing “all the people that love to be mean online”, she implored them to “please give me a day off”.

The day before Lola’s ill-fated performance in New York, a statement credited to the chart-topping performer’s manager was posted on her Instagram, claiming she had been advised to pull out of another performance on Friday “due to a sensitive matter”.

“Lola is very open about her mental health and there are very occasionally days where myself and my team have to take protective measures to keep her safe,” the statement said.

“She is an incredible person and always takes her fans, career and performances seriously. I can only send huge apologies for the inconvenience caused.”

In 2022, Lola disclosed that she has schizoaffective disorder, and has since also been diagnosed with ADHD.

The mental health charity Mind describes schizoaffective disorder as a “mental health problem where you experience psychosis as well as mood symptoms”.

Earlier this month, Lola unveiled her third album I’m Only F**king Myself, preceded by the singles One Thing, Not Like That Anymore and Dealer.
