Karnataka Lokayukta had booked a suo motu case against all 18 tahsildars of Belagavi district on charges of maladministration and dereliction of duty in failing to provide service to ex-servicemen.
Similar action is being taken in all the districts, Lokayukta sources said. This action follows complaints by descendants and next of kin of ex-servicemen who alleged that the Revenue Department officials had failed to provide privileged service, like the distribution of sites and other government benefits.
During the investigation, Lokayukta officers found that ex-servicemen’s families suffered similar inconvenience across the State. Senior officers issued instructions to all Lokayukta SPs in the districts to take up suo motu cases, said a release.
