Logitech has officially launched the MX Master 4, the latest version of its productivity mouse, promising high precision tracking and a few other nifty features. The design has stayed mostly the same with just a few tweaks. Today’s announcement isn’t the first time the design has surfaced, though. The Logitech MX Master 4 design was leaked earlier this year.
Logitech has kept things pretty similar to the MX Master 3, while shifting a few things around, giving it a refreshed look that still remains familiar to long-time users looking to upgrade. The one major change is the addition of haptic feedback technology and the clickable side panel that works in conjunction with it. Logitech also promises the mouse has 8K DPI tracking on any surface. In other words, there’s no need for a mouse mat if you don’t like using one. Or if you simply don’t have access to one.
Logitech MX Master 4 comes with haptic feedback
This might seem like a strange thing to add to a productivity mouse, or any mouse for that matter, but hearing about how it’s intended to be used makes the feature make sense. As Engadget reports, the haptics on the mouse engage during a variety of different interactions. For instance, when you set the mouse up for the first time.
It also has the capability to vibrate the moment you’ve “lined something up in Photoshop.” This use in particular could be a game-changer for some Photoshop users. It’s obviously intended as a productivity add. How much use it might get from you depends on how you use your mice. If it’s just for general browsing and scrolling, chances are it might just end up a nice little extra. Not too unlike the haptic feedback you get from using Android Phones these days.
Another visual design change is the battery indicator LED, which now sits behind the top button that sits behind the scroll wheel. On the older mice, this indicator was behind the scroll wheel on the side. Admittedly, this is minor. It’s a change nonetheless.
