Liverpool star Federico Chiesa is aiming to find a new club in January after struggling for regular minutes in Arne Slot’s squad at the start of the season, Spanish publication Fichajes has claimed.
The 27-year-old forward reportedly wants to boost his chances of playing in the 2026 World Cup, if Italy qualify for the tournament, and is looking to depart Anfield at the turn of the year.
Chiesa, who joined Liverpool from Juventus last year, has made four substitute appearances for the Reds in the Premier League this season and was left out of their Champions League squad by Slot.
The Italy international has registered just 47 minutes on the field in 2025/26 so far, scoring once in Liverpool’s 4-2 win over Bournemouth on the opening weekend of Premier League action.
Chiesa was linked with a departure during the summer transfer window but opted to stay put, despite Italian clubs showing interest in bringing the forward back to Serie A.
Federico Chiesa Could Depart Anfield in 2026
Chiesa, who reportedly earns £180,000 per week, endured a difficult first season with Liverpool in 2024/25, as he dealt with a muscle injury at the start of the campaign and made just 14 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals.
Liverpool’s summer business saw competition for places increase even further, with the likes of Hugo Ekitike, Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz bolstering the reigning Premier League champions’ frontline.
Isak made his debut for the Reds during their 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, while Chiesa was nowhere to be seen, having been omitted from the Champions League squad earlier this month.
GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Chiesa has scored seven goals and provided eight assists in 51 appearances for Italy to date.
Liverpool parted ways with a host of first-team stars amid their spending spree this summer, including full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and forwards Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz.
The Reds oversaw an unprecedented transfer window, splashing out £450m on new arrivals, including a club-record £125m on Isak, who joined on deadline day from Newcastle.
Liverpool maintained their perfect start to the Premier League season with a 1-0 win at Burnley last weekend, and next take on Everton in the Merseyside derby on Saturday.
