Liverpool handed major boost as Arne Slot provides Ryan Gravenberch injury update

Arne Slot said Ryan Gravenberch has the best chance of Liverpool’s injured players returning to action against Aston Villa at the weekend. Gravenberch twisted his ankle in the second half of the 2-1 loss at home to Manchester United on October 19 and was substituted after receiving treatment from the Liverpool medical team. The Dutchman subsequently missed the Reds’ 5-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League a few days later. His absence extended to the Brentford Premier League clash last Saturday as well as Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup fourth-round tie at home to Crystal Palace, with Liverpool falling to defeat in both fixtures. In addition to Gravenberch, record signing Alexander Isak has missed the last two games and Curtis Jones was a doubt for the Palace clash after limping off against Brentford. Meanwhile, first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker has not featured since sustaining a hamstring injury in the Champions League defeat to Galatasaray. Slot delivered an update on his injured stars following the 3-0 loss to the Eagles and revealed some positive news regarding Gravenberch’s fitness for Villa’s visit to Anfield. "I think Ryan has a good chance,” Slot said in his post-match press conference. "The other ones are going to be... let's wait and see tomorrow and Friday. "I don't know [about] all of them but I think Ryan has the best chance from all of them."
