Liverpool claimed a memorable win over Real Madrid at Anfield in the Champions League on Tuesday night, putting their recent poor form in the rearview mirror. Arne Slot's side dominated the majority of the game and came away with all three points as Alexis Mac Allister headed home a Dominik Szoboszlai free-kick in the second half, finally beating an inspired Thibaut Courtois in the Real Madrid net. But while the Argentina international will undoubtedly be the man on all the back pages after his match-winning contribution on Merseyside, it's his midfield partner who deserves all the recognition following a sensational performance. Szoboszlai Shines in Liverpool Midfield After a crazy summer transfer window, many Liverpool fans and pundits alike expected the Hungary international to be the man to miss out on a starting lineup spot to accommodate the arrivals of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak. However, the former RB Leipzig man has done the exact opposite and made himself undroppable in Slot's side with his performances this season - and the latest showing against Real Madrid proved why. Described as a 'machine' by journalist Lewis Steele, the 25-year-old was clearly the man of the match on the night as he produced three key passes, 30/37 successful passes, three crosses from three attempts (100%) and four shots on target from five attempts, according to Sofascore. It was a masterful performance and one that set the tone for the rest of the team, and justified Slot's comments earlier this season that he would be a £100m+ player in the transfer market these days. Liverpool Fans Loving Szoboszlai This Season Szoboszlai has been in sensational form this season for the Reds, and has arguably made himself undroppable. In fact, one Liverpool fan even described him as 'the best midfielder in the world right now'. Fan Dave Wilkinson heaped praise on Szoboszlai, declaring that Madrid star Jude Bellingham got 'nowhere near him', while another fan declared that he had dropped 'an all time performance in front of Steven Gerrard'. He was also described as 'sensational', while another fan claimed that he was better than all of Declan Rice, Moises Caicedo, Pedri and Frenkie De Jong too. The Reds will now travel to take on Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening in a huge game in the Premier League title race, and a win could see the club heap pressure on Arsenal heading into the international break.
