Before the Detroit Lions‘ Week 3 win over the Baltimore Ravens, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Lions had asked the league to monitor low blocks on superstar pass-rusher Aidan Hutchinson.
Head coach Dan Campbell’s team was supposedly upset with the way Hutchinson, who’s coming off a fractured tibia and fibula injury that ended his season last year, had been hit by the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears through the first two weeks of the 2025 season.
“The Detroit Lions have taken notice, and they’ve asked the league office to monitor the plays against Aidan Hutchinson,” Schefter reported during ESPN’s Week 3 “Monday Night Football” pregame show. “Not that that will protect him out there, but clearly, people have noticed some of these plays, and the Lions want the league office to notice as well.”
Campbell was asked about this report during a press conference on Wednesday, and the Lions’ head coach denied any truth to the rumor.
“That’s bogus. That’s a bogus report. I don’t know where that came from. Nobody from here ever did that. That’s bull,” Campbell said.

Campbell was also asked if he’s noticed any difference in the way teams block Hutchinson since this report.
“No. No, man. Nope. Game’s played a certain way, that’s the way it goes, man. It doesn’t matter whether we’re doing it or someone else is doing it to our guys. We know that and we play accordingly,” Campbell replied.

Since suffering a Week 1 loss at the hands of the Packers, Campbell and the Lions have mounted a four-game win streak. In Week 4, the team notched a dominating 37-24 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Hutchinson’s 2024 season was cut short by a brutal leg injury, but he’s since made a full recovery for this year’s campaign. Through the first five games of the season, the former No. 2 overall draft pick has five sacks, 12 QB hits, 12 tackles and three forced fumbles.
The Lions will face off against the Kansas City Chiefs in a primetime “Sunday Night Football” matchup in Week 6.
