The woman who Lily Allen dubbed "Madeline" on her new album as she addressed ex-husband David Harbour cheating on her has spoken out for the first time. Following the release of West End Girl on Friday everyone has been curious too know just who Lily was referring to in the lyrics as she sang about infidelity and the mystery woman. But now the female in question has come forward to identify herself as Madeline, with her true identity reported to be costume designer Natalie Tippett. She is a 34-year-old single mum from New Orleans and has confirmed that she was the woman at the centre of Lily's split from Stranger Things star David. While she appears to have confirmed that it is her Lily is singing about, Natalie has still held back on what she is willing to say on the matter. She said: "Of course I’ve heard the song. But I have a family and things to protect." She added to the Daily Mail : "I have a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, and I understand this is going on. It’s a little bit scary for me." Natalie is thought to have met David, 50, while he was filming the Netflix movie We Have A Ghost in 2021. The project took place in New Orleans and Natalie worked in the costume department. The affair allegedly began shortly after the movie started shooting. Their romantic involvement was exposed when Lily read a text message sent to her husband's phone, which she sings about in a track titled Tennis on her new album. The lyrics reveal: "So I read your text, and now I regret it. I can’t get my head round how you’ve been playing tennis. If it was just sex, I wouldn’t be jealous. You won’t play with me and who’s Madeline?" Lily is even heard changing her voice to mimic the other woman, as she insists the relationship "has only ever been about sex. I can promise you that this is not an emotional connection." Asked by the publication if she knew that her private text messages had been included in Lily's song, Natalie said: "‘Yeah. I just don’t feel comfortable talking about it at the moment." Lily and David split in January, with reports stating they had separated in December, and Lily spent Christmas in Kenya alone with her children. She opened up about the split on her Miss Me? podcast with her close friend Miquita Oliver. At the time, she shared that she was suffering from panic attacks and was taking "time out." She said, "I’m finding it hard to be interested in anything. I’m really not in a good place. I know I’ve been talking about it for months, but I’ve been spiralling and spiralling. It’s got out of control. I can’t concentrate on anything except the pain I’m going through. It’s really hard." Speaking to British Vogue this month, she confessed it had been hard not to turn to "drugs and alcohol" to cope with the divorce. Allen has been sober for five years and admitted in an interview that in the past her addiction problems were so bad she couldn't remember having "sober sex" until she met Harbour. She told Vogue of the divorce, "The last time that I felt anything like that, drugs and alcohol were my way out, so it was excruciating to sit with those [feelings] and not to use them." Harbour was asked about their split by GQ in April but declined to comment, saying it would encourage "a salacious s--- show of humiliation." Like this story?
