Lidl has brought back some fan-favourite bakery items (Credits: Getty Images) A new month is upon us and with it has come some new treats to try from Lidl bakery. The budget retailer has introduced some new and returning products to its in-store bakeries, including a twist on its most popular item – the All Butter Croissant. At Lidl, 122 of these croissants reportedly sell every single minute, so you can imagine pastry fans will be thrilled to learn that an even more decadent version, the Chocolate Brioche Croissant, is back. This product sees brioche dough stuffed with a chocolate filling, shaped like a croissant and then drizzled in more chocolate and dusted with icing sugar. The whole thing costs 89p and was last available at Lidl in March. Shoppers who tried it earlier this year hailed it as ‘insanely good’ and ‘out of this world’ and the sentiment clearly remains the same now, with @the.real.loss.boss taking to Instagram to claim it’s so ‘addictive’ it’s like a ‘Class A’ drug. Absolutely devoured three in one sitting.’ And Loraine Holding posted: ‘They are amazing and worth the calories, beware they are so full of chocolate i ended up wearing most of it.’ Metro’s lifestyle editor, Kristina Beanland, gave one a try and was equally as impressed by the sweet treat, calling it ‘amazing’. Lifestyle reporter Eleanor Noyce gave this a try and thought it was ‘gorgeously soft’ and ideal for those who are ‘notoriously indecisive’. ‘The layering between the two halves was perfectly executed – I didn’t feel deprived of either element of this sweet treat,’ she said. ‘As far as 3pm pick-me-ups go, this does very nicely.’ And finally the White and Milk Chocolate Drizzle Doughnut (69p or 59p for Lidl Plus members) is also available once more. This drizzle doughnut takes this and somehow elevates it one step further by mixing two types of chocolate and specialist food writer, Courtney Pochin, was a big fan. ‘There’s a generous amount of chocolate, which creates a smooth and crispy shell when you bite in and that juxtaposes nicely with the soft, fluffiness of the doughnut. ‘It’s incredibly sweet, so much so that I couldn’t manage more than a few bites, but what I did eat, I very much enjoyed.’ All three items are available in Lidl bakery section now, as ‘special guests’ meaning they’ll only be around for a limited time. It’s not clear how long the cookie or brioche are going to be sold for, but shoppers only have until November 12 to try the doughnut.
