Lichtenstrasser found dead in Windhoek prison

Staff Reporter Ernst Lichtenstrasser (64), who was convicted of the double murder of Namibia Institute of Mining and Technology (NIMT) executive director Eckhart Mueller (72) and his deputy, Heimo Hellwig (60), was found dead this morning at the Windhoek Correctional Facility at around 07:30. While preliminary reports suggest suicide, the cause of death has not yet been officially confirmed. Lichtenstrasser was serving two life sentences following his conviction in April 2024 for the murders of the two senior executives.
