Letter to the editor- A way to recoup some renovation costs?

I am curious about what will happen with the debris from the White house renovation (“White House ballroom price tag increases to $300 million,” Web, Oct. 23). I would love to have a brick originally from the White house sitting on my mantle. Of course ,the bricks are part of the 1902 renovation and modernization, so they’re not the originals, but they’re close enough. I remember in Springfield, Illinois, in the 1950s there was a renovation of the Lincoln home. Afterward, I bought a small sliver of brick that had been part of the original home. The debris from the White House could be utilized in the same fashion — unless the president has other plans, such as making the debris a part of a wing of his presidential museum or Mar-A-Lago. Springfield, Illinois
