Noel Morin, president of the Hawaii EV Association, recently said, “We want to be independent of fossil fuel imports” (“State’s EV perks, federal tax credits nearing an end,” Star-Advertiser, Sept. 1). My one question is, who is “we”?
This continued push for so-called clean energy goals is misguided. The human race is shooting itself in the foot and no amount of propaganda about climate change or the argument that fossil fuels are destroying the Earth is going to matter.
There are trade-offs for everything. If humans are to continue down this road of false belief, what do they propose to do with the billions of tons of nonbiodegradable waste, such as EV batteries? Things that contaminate our Earth do not just go away. They ostensibly plan to dump the stuff in the voided spaces they’ve created in decimating our forests, lands, oceans and whatever else was destroyed in the name of climate change and the pursuit of wealth.
