To the editor: On Tuesday, women and girls from across Berkshire County will have an important opportunity to make their voices heard. Hosted by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women in collaboration with the Berkshire County Commission on the Status of Women, a public hearing is being held in North Adams with an invitation to participants across the county to speak about the issues that most impact their lives, families and communities. (The hearing is in person from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 28, at BIC Works at Mass MoCA or attend virtually and register at masscsw.org/event/mcsw-public-hearing-berkshire-county.) This hearing is more than a conversation; it’s a chance to help shape statewide legislative priorities. From access to child care and health care to education, safety and economic opportunity, the input gathered will guide future policy decisions on Beacon Hill. Rural communities like the Berkshires face unique challenges that deserve attention. By participating, residents can ensure that the perspectives of women and girls are included in the policies that shape our future. We encourage all women and girls — and anyone who believes in building stronger, fairer communities — to attend, speak or listen in support by attending this event. Our voices matter, and together we can help make a real difference for Berkshire County and beyond.
