There is an urgent need for a new hospital to be built for the people of Guam. Our current facilities are aging and increasingly unable to meet the growing health care demands of our community. The longer we postpone construction, the higher the costs will rise and more importantly, the greater the strain on the health and safety of our residents. This is not just a policy matter. It is a matter of public well-being. Guam deserves a modern, fully equipped hospital capable of providing the quality care our people need and deserve. Then there’s access to quality health care for our southern residents and to reduce the stress of our current hospital we must ensure that the Southern Regional Medical Facility is fully staffed, properly equipped, and operating to its intended capacity and potential. For too long, this facility has been underutilized due to staffing shortages and other critical resource needs. Our people in the south deserve convenient, reliable and comprehensive medical services close to home. Our southern residents should not have to travel far for basic medical care. Action, not words, on the real issues. Our island’s drug problem, bad roads, high cost of living, rampant crime, schools and abandoned vehicles in our villages. Enough is enough. If our public servants work as a team, we can clean up, fix up, and lift up our island. No more talk but real actions, preferably now, not tomorrow!
