To the editor: During this election season, it’s important to reflect on the challenges we face — both locally and beyond. Municipalities across the state need much to sustain them: increased affordable housing, infrastructure repair and ADA compliance, business creation and recruitment, and stronger tourism, among other needs. We need a leader with years of municipal experience, dedication to the city of North Adams, and the ability to unite us. That leader is Jennifer Macksey. North Adams may be a small city by population, but it is remarkably spirited. While all residents may not share the same views, we do share a common vision — respecting the city as it stands while remaining inspired and motivated for the improvements to come. Mayor Macksey has the experience and understanding to continue moving our city forward. Among her accomplishments as mayor, she has secured grant funding for numerous projects, including crucial repairs and replacements of sidewalks and other citywide improvements to ensure ADA compliance. As a community-oriented leader, Mayor Macksey has brought engaging events and celebrations for all ages to downtown — in addition to supporting the successful and well-loved North Adams Recreation Center. She also has been exploring alternatives to the current digital network, recognizing that reliable and affordable internet access is essential for our community. I know Mayor Macksey personally. She is kind and cordial by nature. She cares deeply about North Adams and consistently puts in the time and effort to prove it. You’ll always see her at sporting events, downtown festivities and community gatherings. Mayor Macksey is the experienced candidate we need in the corner office. I encourage you to cast your vote for Jennifer Macksey for continued leadership in North Adams. Christa Sprague, North Adams
