Legendary singer-songwriter postpones North American tour due to visa issues

Yusuf Islam, better known to many as the singer-songwriter Cat Stevens, announced he is postponing his upcoming book tour of North America due to unspecified visa issues.
The “Peace Train” singer announced the news on Instagram on Monday.
“Sadly, my Cat on the Road to Findout Book Tour in the U.S. and Canada looks like it won’t go ahead as scheduled in October,” Islam wrote. “Waiting months for visa approvals, we held out as long as we could. However, at this point, the production logistics necessary for my show cannot be arranged in time.”
“I am really upset! Not least for my fans who have bought tickets and made travel plans to see me perform,” he continued. “North American audiences may still get a chance to see the tour if visa approvals eventually come through. Those dates would be some time away because of other travel tour plans but, hopefully, fans will be able to hop on the Peace Train route at some time in the future.”
Islam concluded by saying that the tour delays won’t affect fans ability to get a copy of the book in the U.S. and Canada, jokiing that “books don’t need visas!”
Islam, 77, did not give any detailed reasons for the visa delays. The tour was supposed to begin on Oct. 2 in Philadelphia.
Islam, 77, who changed his name when he became a Muslim in 1977, is best known for such songs as “The Wind,” “Moonshadow,” “Wide World” and “Morning Has Broken.” He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.
