Legendary ECHL player Cam Brown has died at 56 years old

ECHL legend Cam Brown, who held multiple records when he retired from hockey, has died following a motorcycle crash. He was 56 years old. Brown’s family announced that he died this past weekend after being involved in a wreck in Blue Ridge, Georgia. "Cam made a profound impact on everyone blessed to know him,“ his family said in his obituary. ”His life was defined by love, compassion, loyalty, and integrity. His passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched." Cam Brown played in several hockey leagues, including the Western Hockey League, American Hockey League and International Hockey League. He also appeared in one NHL game with the Vancouver Canucks during the 1990-91 season. However, he was most known for his time in the ECHL, where he was one of the greatest players in the league’s history. When he retired, Brown held the record for games played with 789 and penalty minutes with 2,425. He was also in the top 35 in goals, points and assists in ECHL history when he retired. A native of Canada, Brown finished his career with 206 goals, 293 assists and 499 points. He was inducted into the ECHL Hall of Fame in 2010. Brown also coached in the ECHL for Baton Rouge. After moving on from hockey, Brown worked as a Critical Environment Technician with Quality Technical Services in Atlanta. "Beyond his career, Cam found his greatest joy with his family and on the open road. His motorcycle was his sanctuary -- a place of peace, reflection, and freedom,“ his family said. ”If it wasn’t snowing, raining, or below 30 degrees, Cam was riding."
