Le Petit Chef & Friends Serves Up Immersive 3D Dining Experience In San Diego

The technology-driven dinner and show blends fine dining, animation and storytelling at the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter. SAN DIEGO, CA — A new dinner show has debuted in downtown San Diego — and the chef is just 6 centimeters tall. Le Petit Chef & Friends, an internationally acclaimed 3D dining experience that blends fine dining, animation and storytelling, has launched at the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter. Created by the Belgian artist collective Skullmapping, Le Petit Chef & Friends uses projection-mapping technology to bring a cast of animated chefs to life directly on diners' tables. As the story unfolds, guests are guided through a whimsical world of global flavors, with each scene paired to a course designed to match the narrative. "This one-of-a-kind, immersive dining experience combines a gourmet dinner, storytelling and stunning visuals that invite guests to enjoy a truly unforgettable meal," said Francesca Ramirez, general manager of Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter. The original show began in 2015 in Europe and has since become a global sensation. The multi-sensory culinary journey has been staged in more than 100 venues around the world. The all-new show features four tiny chefs from around the world paired with a four-course tasting menu crafted to match every scene. This is the first time Le Petit Chef & Friends has come to San Diego, and the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter is thrilled to exclusively host the dinner show, according to Area Marketing Manager Becca Bishop. "San Diego's vibrant dining scene and the Gaslamp Quarter's reputation as the city's culinary and entertainment hub made it the perfect location to introduce this world-renowned experience," Bishop told Patch. "Our goal was to bring something truly unique and immersive to downtown — something that combines artistry, technology and cuisine in a way that delights both locals and travelers alike." Each Le Petit Chef & Friends dinner lasts about two hours. The experience offers multiple menu options, including vegetarian and children's selections, all presented in sync with the animated narrative. The interactive tabletop show is recommended for children ages 6 and older. "Le Petit Chef & Friends was designed to be enjoyed by guests of all ages," Bishop said. "The whimsical storytelling and animated characters make it fun for children, while the elevated multi-course menu and immersive ambiance make it an exceptional night out for adults. It's a perfect experience for families, date nights, special celebrations or visitors looking to do something out of the ordinary in San Diego." The experience will be available for a limited-time engagement at Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter, with seatings currently open through Dec. 31. The property plans to extend the run into the first half of 2026, according to Bishop. "Le Petit Chef has captured imaginations around the globe because it offers so much more than a meal — it's a full sensory journey," Bishop said. "The combination of 3D storytelling, projection mapping and exceptional cuisine creates an unforgettable dining experience that appeals to every generation. Guests don't just dine; they laugh, interact and connect over a shared moment of wonder. It's that blend of culinary craftsmanship and entertainment that has made Le Petit Chef a worldwide phenomenon." Limited seating is available at Le Petit Chef & Friends inside the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter at 401 K St. Reservations are required. This holiday season, locals and visitors alike can enjoy a winter staycation or embark on a memorable getaway after a night with Le Petit Chef at the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter. The hotel is offering the Home for the Holidays Loft Suite, which features festive décor, including a full-size Christmas tree. "We're honored to bring Le Petit Chef & Friends to San Diego and to offer locals and visitors an experience that's truly unlike anything else in the city," Bishop said. "Between this immersive dining event and our Holiday Loft Suite, guests can expect a season filled with creativity, flavor and festive cheer right in the center of the Gaslamp Quarter."
