Rep. Wale Ahmed, who represents Agege Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has called on opposition leaders to abandon any plans to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
He said a second term for the president is already certain and urged political rivals to accept that reality.
Ahmed made the statement during a stakeholders’ meeting at the Agege Local Government Secretariat, where he addressed party members, traditional leaders and community representatives.
Rep Ahmed endorses Tinubu for 2027 presidency
Ahmed argued that it would be unfair to deny Tinubu another four years after former President Muhammadu Buhari, who is from the North, completed two terms in office.
“All his opponents should rest and allow him to have a second term. All opposition should simply rally round and support Tinubu.
Late President Muhammadu Buhari, from the North, served two terms, so Tinubu should also have his second term. By God’s grace, his second term is assured. I will mobilise my constituents to ensure Tinubu is returned for another term,” Ahmed said.
Lawmaker hails Tinubu’s economic growth agenda
The lawmaker credited Tinubu’s economic reforms and diplomatic outreach for what he described as a growing respect for Nigeria on the global stage.
He defended the removal of fuel subsidy, describing it as a courageous step that has begun to reflect in stronger foreign reserves, increased foreign direct investment and a reduction in inflation.
He also cited the disbursement of N90 billion in student loans as evidence of financial re-engineering under the current administration.
Ahmed pointed to major infrastructure projects, including the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, the Sokoto–Badagry superhighway and the Abuja–Kano dual carriageway rehabilitation, as proof of the government’s commitment to development.
“Tinubu’s foreign trips are yielding Nigeria respect abroad. The Sokoto–Badagry expressway had been on paper for 40 years until this administration took up the project. It will open up villages and benefit people across different states,” he said.
On his own performance, Ahmed listed empowerment programmes for youths and women, borehole installations, streetlights, food palliatives, classroom construction, skill acquisition schemes, scholarships and medical outreach as projects executed in his constituency.
Agege Local Government Chairman Abdulganiyu Obasa, Orile Agege Chairman Abiodun Idowu, traditional rulers and market leaders attended the meeting and commended the lawmaker for delivering what they described as tangible benefits to residents.
Ex-Buhari minister declares war on Tinubu
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the former minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalung, had declared that the 2027 general elections would not just be another electoral cycle but a full-blown confrontation between the Nigerian people and the current administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Presidency reacts Speaking during a recent interview on News Central, Dalung voiced strong dissatisfaction with the state of the nation, blaming the Tinubu-led government for deepening the hardship faced by ordinary citizens.
