Law roundup: Barfly struggles with concept of rejection

Unable to take a hint, a man kept returning to the bar he had been kicked out of, prompting the employees to call in the Kalispell Police Department. They said the man wasn't being violent but was no longer wanted at the watering hole. The county jail, though, was more than willing to accept him. Catching sight of a trio of teenagers apparently passing the time by smashing carts in the parking lot of a North Kalispell big box retailer, an employee phoned the police. They told officers the teens had arrived in dark-colored pickup trucks and parked toward the rear of the lot, close to U.S. 93. Library employees opted to ban from the premises a twentysomething man they accused of pulling down his shorts and touching himself. The same man was acting suspiciously and trying to talk to children, they said. Repeatedly asked to leave the children's section, the man was later escorted out by security. Someone arrived at the Police Department to discuss a stalking complaint. A homeless woman dialed 911 and told dispatchers she was afraid for her life. Though she initially told them it was an emergency situation, dispatchers determined she was not in any life-threatening circumstances. Dispatchers encouraged her to call the non-emergency line in the future. Staff at a homeless shelter phoned the authorities after a would-be client began making other guests uncomfortable. The person seemed incoherent. Officers escorted the individual off the premises and explained the guidelines for staying at the shelter. They referred the situation to the county's Crisis Assistance Team. A pet owner reported his dog running off in the event an officer crossed paths with the adventurous Pyrenees. He later called back to let them know the dog had been returned. Officers investigated a possible burglary that also involved damage to a nearby vehicle. Spotting a man rummaging around in the dumpster area of a business, an employee alerted the police. They described the man as wearing a beanie and a dark-colored jacket. The dumpster area was quiet when officers drove through to check it out. Motorists reported a dead deer in the middle of the road.
