Law and order collapses in Karnataka, alleges Sullia MLA

The law and order situation in the State has collapsed and cases of violence against women have increased since the Congress government came to power, Sullia MLA Bhagirathi Murulya of BJP alleged on Monday, November 3. Addressing the press, the MLA said that more than 65 women have been murdered and over 1,300 cases of rape of women have been registered, including the rape of a minor girl in Mysuru and a gang rape in Bengaluru, after the Congress took over. In addition, more than 100 youths have been murdered. The Home Minister is watching all these crimes silently, she alleged. Ms. Murulya said that more than 20 civil servants have died owing to unnatural circumstances and seven civil servants have died by suicide owing to “commission”-related matters. The MLA said that six persons ended their lives after being unable to tolerate the pressure from the government during the State’s socio-educational survey. More than 15 contractors have died by suicide in the State. She said that over 750 pregnant women and 1,300 newborns have died in Karnataka. The MLA further added that more than 25 persons have died in elephant attacks and the forest department has completely failed to prevent human-elephant conflicts. She alleged that corruption has increased in Karnataka under the Congress government. There are no facilities in the hostels run by the government under the Social Welfare, Tribal, and Minority Welfare departments. The MLA alleged that government health facilities are facing a dearth of doctors and nurses.
