Robin Hood has recently begun airing on MGM+, with the latest adaptation focusing on the early years of Rob (portrayed by Jack Patten) and Marian. Before he became known by his famous alias, Rob was a 24 year old lad trying to navigate life. Marian is introduced as a young woman - an innocent, inexperienced girl who matures into a woman discovering her own voice. The role of Marian is played by Lauren McQueen, a 29 year old actress hailing from Liverpool , whose acting debut was in the BBC miniseries, Good Cop. Her big break came when she joined the cast of Hollyoaks as Lily Drinkwell in 2017 - a role that bagged her two British Soap Awards, reports the Express . Her character was entangled in a romantic relationship with Prince McQueen (Malique Thompson-Dwyer), and a self-harming storyline that originated from a car accident. The programme collaborated with four charities - The Mix, Mind, NSPCC and Samaritans - on the distressing storyline, which further delved into group self-harm. The storyline clinched Best Storyline and Best Single Episode at the British Soap Awards 2018, and Lauren chose to exit the soap the following year to explore new ventures. Her character met a tragic end after her mental health deteriorated and she succumbed to sepsis following a relapse into self-harm. After her departure from Hollyoaks, she starred in Belgravia: The Next Chapter and Outlander: Blood of My Blood. She shared insights about her latest role in Robin Hood and her experience working with fellow actors, such as Sean Bean, who plays the Sheriff of Nottingham. She expressed: "I was so excited to work with him. He brings that extra level to the show and the Sheriff. He is so down to earth and such a normal guy. "We had a nice conversation about Liverpool when we first met. He had done a TV show there, it was nice to relate to him in that way. I learnt so much from watching him on set." She mentioned that Marian "came to her naturally" during some self-tapes, adding: "I was ready to put my own stamp on Marian." The star also lauded newcomer Jack Patten as Robin Hood, stating: "From the moment that Jack and I met, we clicked. It was such a fun, final audition. It was clear to us both that we were right for the roles. It felt very exciting." Robin Hood is available to watch on MGM+.
