Launch of Pink Scooties programme Phase-II soon: Sharjeel

KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, said the Sindh government will soon launch the second phase of the Pink Scooties programme for women. He urged women to obtain driving licences, join training courses, and register for the upcoming phase. In his statement, he said the Transport Department is offering free training and driving licences to women, along with providing Scooties to female students and working women. The goal is to ease their daily commuting challenges. He added that the first phase of the Pink Scooties project received an overwhelming public response, with dozens of women learning to ride, getting their licences, and using Pink Scooties for their daily routines. Sharjeel Inam Memon said the Sindh government wants more women to benefit from this initiative and continue their educational and professional journeys safely and with dignity. Projects such as the People’s Bus Service, Pink Bus Service, Electric Bus Service, and now Pink Scooties are designed to ensure affordable, safe, and respectful travel for citizens. He further stated that empowering women socially and economically is not just a government initiative but part of the Pakistan People’s Party’s political and humanitarian philosophy. Women’s empowerment, he said, remains a core principle of the PPP’s ideology and continues the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025
