While President Donald Trump’s overall job approval rating has declined, data shows a strong majority of Americans still support most of his key policies.
Only 39% of U.S. adults approve of Trump’s job performance, according to a poll conducted by The Economist and YouGov America. Meanwhile, 56% disapprove of the president’s work.
This marks a decrease from September when the YouGov/Economist poll found his approval rating at 47% and disapproval 51%.
While these numbers are indicating a decline in the president’s general support, a separate survey released on Monday shows a majority of Americans agree with nearly all of Trump’s top priorities.
The Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll, a monthly nationwide online survey conducted by the Center for American Political Studies (CAP) at Harvard University and the Harris Poll, found that Americans support 18 out of 20 Trump policies.
Trump’s highest mark (86%) by both parties was for lowering prescription drug prices for Medicare recipients and low-income patients.
Deporting illegal immigrants who have committed crimes (78%) and eliminating waste in government expenditures (75%) came second and third.
Other popular policies included banning men who have undergone operations and hormones to become women from girls’ sports (65%) and eliminating all preferences by race in the hiring and awarding of government contracts (63%).
The least popular policies were adding work requirements to Medicaid programs (42%), tariffs (49%) and deploying the National Guard in cities (51%).
Additionally, 52% of those polled felt that Trump was doing a better job as president than Joe Biden.
