Barcelona and Real Madrid players had to be held back from each other at the end of El Clasico after tensions boiled over between the two teams. Pedri's lunging tackle on Aurelien Tchouameni in stoppage time sparked a melee on the sidelines involving both benches. The Spain international received a yellow card late in the first half. A second then came in the tenth minute of added time for his late challenge that left Tchouameni writhing around on the pitch. Eder Militao was also booked a minute later during the scuffles that ensued. Madrid's backup goalkeeper Andriy Lunin also went into the book despite not even being on the pitch. Following the full-time whistle, Dani Carvajal and Lamine Yamal had an animated exchange while walking away from each other. Marcus Rashford awkwardly watched on while offering his hand to the former, who belatedly obliged after he finished arguing with the teenager. Eduardo Camavinga then came over to stop Yamal following Carvajal, before Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado ran to intervene. Thibaut Courtois jogged over at the same time, putting his hands on Yamal before being pushed away by Casado. Frenkie De Jong and Jules Kounde reacted to the goalkeeper's involvement by angrily inserting themselves. The former received a significant shove from the Belgian, which triggered a pushing and pulling match between what ultimately ended up being dozens of players from both teams. Madrid ran out 2-1 winners in the actual match at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, extending their lead at the top of La Liga to five points. Man of the match Kylian Mbappe put the hosts in front midway through the first half. Jude Bellingham played a pinpoint ball through to the striker, who earlier had a sensational goal disallowed by VAR for offside. Marcus Rashford then set up Fermin Lopez for the Catalan club's equaliser. The hosts were in front again inside five minutes as Bellingham swept in from close range. Mbappe also had the ball in the back of the net again just before the break, but again was offside. Bellingham then won Madrid a penalty early in the second half after the ball hit Eric Garcia's hand. Wojciech Szczesny, however, saved Mbappe's spot-kick to keep Barcelona in it. It was Bellingham's turn to have a goal disallowed midway through the second half due to an offside during the build-up. Their opponents then went down to ten for the final seconds after a late lunge from Pedri.
