Last-minute drama as Pego snatch victory in five-goal thriller

El Pego enjoyed the best outcome from the sixth matchday of the Primera FFCV Group III, securing a 3-2 home victory over CDSB Ontinyent in a thrilling encounter played over the weekend of October 25 and October 26. The hosts went into half-time 2-0 up thanks to a brace from Omar, but Ontinyent fought back to level the score. However, Pego refused to give up, and Pepe Bañuls netted the decisive goal in the dying moments to seal a dramatic win. The three points leave Javi Signes’ side just one point behind the new group leaders, Racing Algemesí. Meanwhile, the other two top teams, Gandia and Llutxent, both drew their respective fixtures. Denia, on the other hand, failed to make the most of their opportunity, settling for a goalless draw against Enguera despite playing almost the entire second half with a man advantage. The Dianense attack struggled to break through a well-organised Enguera defence, who held firm to keep a clean sheet. Near the end, tempers flared and both sides saw red cards — Alejandro for Denia and Óscar for the visitors, both dismissed with straight reds. Teulada-Moraira claim away victory In Group IV, Teulada-Moraira produced an excellent performance away to Almoradí, taking home all three points with a 2-3 win. The visitors started strong, with Rafa Bordes opening the scoring in the sixth minute. Coca’s men had more chances to extend the lead, but went into half-time just one goal up. Shortly after the restart, Almoradí levelled, only for Coco — who had just come on — to restore Teulada-Moraira’s lead. The game turned into an open battle, with both teams trading goals towards the end. The visitors ultimately held firm for a hard-fought and deserved victory, keeping them among the top sides in the standings. The sixth matchday brought just one win for Marina Alta sides in the Segunda FFCV. El Verger were the only team to claim three points, defeating Safor Gandia 0-1 away. The match ended in a tense brawl that required police intervention. Juanan scored the only goal of the match in the second half, after the hosts had already suffered two red cards. El Verger’s Adrián Pérez was also sent off near the end. Despite the unfortunate ending — for which the Safor club issued an apology, acknowledging the involvement of some of their supporters — El Verger earned a vital victory to ease their position in the table. Elsewhere in the same group (Group VI), both Gorgos and Orba fell at home. Gorgos suffered a 1-4 defeat to a strong Cullera side, while Orba narrowly lost 1-2 against Portuarios. Benissa rescue late point as Veterans League sees new leaders In Group VII, Benissa earned a valuable 1-1 draw away at Villajoyosa, keeping their place near the top of the table. The home team went ahead on the hour mark, but Lino Bolufer equalised in stoppage time. The eighth matchday of the Marina Alta Veterans League, organised by Acydma, brought a change at the top, as Kamarka defeated Oliva 0-1 away to take over first place. They now share the lead with Veterans Pedreguer, who also won their fixture. Pedreguer were made to work hard against Beniarbeig, who took the lead in the first half thanks to a stunning 30-metre strike from Carlitos. Meanwhile, Veterans El Verger did not play their scheduled match against Bang Bang, as it was postponed until this coming Wednesday. Colombianos secured an exciting 3-4 win away to Mi Pueblito, staying close to the top and now sitting fourth, just one point off the leaders. At the lower end of the standings, Benissa earned their first point of the season with a 2-2 draw away to Javeahouses, while Dorian Gray shared the spoils 1-1 on the road against Latinos Dankol.
