Over the weekend, Pinkbox Doughnuts in Boca Park presented a sweet show of gratitude towards local law enforcement with a special event that served dual purposes: celebrating National Thank a Police Officer Day and bolstering support for the Southern Nevada Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) charity. This gathering included a range of activities from doughnut-eating competitions to writing heartfelt notes for officers, aptly demonstrating the community’s appreciation for those in uniform, according to a post on Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Facebook page.
The law enforcement community and supporters came together to recognize the service and commitment of police officers, with festivities including a children’s doughnut-eating contest, a dunk tank, and vehicle displays, all chronicled in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s social media post.
The event also featured a “Thank an Officer Station” where community members could leave written appreciations on a retired police vehicle, which Pinkbox Doughnuts later distributed to various local police stations, and Destiny Whitley, Director of Community Relations for the Siegel Group, underscored the importance of such gestures in supporting law enforcement officers within Nevada, as she told News 3 Las Vegas.
Fundraising played a key part in the day’s event with Pinkbox Doughnuts aiming to provide financial support to C.O.P.S., a charity dedicated to assisting families of law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. Participants contributed by purchasing raffle tickets and taking their chances at dunking police officers, displaying a community spirit that went beyond mere appreciation, transitioning into tangible support for those left behind by tragedy.
The highlight for many was the opportunity to interact with local police in a festive setting, especially through the doughnut-eating contests tailored for both the officers and the younger attendees; the latter provided not only entertainment but also fostered a closer relationship between the community and its protectors. Offering free OG glazed doughnuts to the officers, Pinkbox Doughnuts emphasized their role not just as a local business, but as an active member of the Las Vegas community, committed to showing up for those who, as Destiny Whitley emphasized, “continue to step up for us every day,” her sentiments being a direct quote from her interview with News 3 Las Vegas.
