A teenage boy has been charged with assault and a sexual offence after an alleged incident at a McDonald’s branch which saw a large police presence in a busy retail park. Officers were sent to the McDonald’s at Nantgarw Business Park at 10.50am on Thursday after receiving a report of suspicious behaviour in the fast food restaurant. A 16-year-old was arrested and has since been charged with two offences, South Wales Police confirmed. He cannot be named due to his age. The teenager is due to appear at Merthyr Magistrates Court on Friday morning charged with the following offences: the intention of committing a relevant sexual offence and assault by beating. Witnesses reported seeing a large police presence outside the McDonald’s for a number of hours on Thursday. Coleg Y Cymoedd also have a campus nearby.
