Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin explained what he said to Rebels supporters after the win at Oklahoma, and it might not be what fans were hoping to hear. Kiffin's name has been tied to the Florida opening and now the LSU opening with Brian Kelly fired. Kiffin can be seen pausing behind the end zone after the game in a video posted on X by Brad Logan of WFCA FM Sports. Kiffin clapped and pointed to the ground before saying something to Rebels fans who were in the stands. Social media speculation was that Kiffin said he was not leaving Ole Miss. But Kiffin said in a Zoom call with local reporters on Oct. 26 that's not what he said. “I don’t know if I should repeat what I said, but it was not what is getting played that I said," Kiffin said. "Sorry to tell you, that’s not what I said. “I was kind of caught up and said something about the stadium and that we’ll be back here next year to the stadium. It was just one of those moment things. But, it wasn’t what some people think I said.” Oklahoma will be one of three permanent SEC opponents for the Rebels from 2026-29 with the change to nine conference games each season. Ole Miss will play at Oklahoma again in 2026 although dates for SEC games haven't been announced. The No. 8 Rebels (7-1, 4-1 SEC) beat No. 11 Oklahoma (6-2, 2-2) 34-26 on Oct. 25. Lane Kiffin reveals what he said to players about Florida rumors Kiffin also addressed on the media call what he said to players Oct. 24 about the rumors linking him to the Florida opening after Billy Napier was fired. “I just told them, ‘Hey, this happens every year here. So this isn’t new, but a lot of you guys are new.' So all it is is a credit to the program and the coaches and players for doing well and having the success we have and ... best SEC record in years here. DEAL EXTENDED: Why Lane Kiffin's contract got extended after Ole Miss football beat Oklahoma "It goes Georgia, Alabama then us. So, that’s pretty cool. Especially when you throw Texas and Oklahoma in there. So that’s all that’s a product of and it shouldn’t be a distraction." Ole Miss plays South Carolina (3-5, 1-5) at home on Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. (ESPN). Contributing: Sam Hutchens
