Taking place Monday in Vietnam, a landslide suddenly happened on National Highway 4D, which is around the O Quy Ho Pass in Sa Pa Ward, located in the Lao Cairns Province. The landslide sent upper slope debris roaring onto the highway causing multiple vehicles to be damaged, with others having rocks and mud flood into their interiors.
In one particular case, which was earlier in the day at around 5:00 p.m. local time, another landslide in Sa Pa Ward caused a SUV with three people inside to fall off a mountain road, resulting in heavy damage to the vehicle. According to the Lao Cai Meteorological and Hydrological Station per VietNamNet, the Red River at Yen Bai station is continuing to rise quickly because of heavy rain and upstream dam discharges. By around 2.8 meters, it’s expected that the flood crest will eclipse Level 3 warning, possibly flooding areas along the riverbanks that are low-lying.
36 people have been killed in Vietnam as a result of Typhoon Bualoi, according to a report Thursday from the government’s disaster management agency per Reuters.
