The intra-team battle at McLaren between Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris has continued to heat up ever since the two have been leading the pack in the standings. At its peak, Norris was just nine points off the lead to Piastri, which quickly turned out following the former’s shock DNF at the Dutch GP. Now, with the Azerbaijan GP up next, the Briton has revealed how he’s working hard to overcome his Aussie counterpart.
Oscar Piastri has emerged as the better driver out of the two at McLaren, as he has held onto his title lead pretty well. The Australian has put forth one of the most consistent performances this season and has no finishes outside the top 10. With just eight races left, Lando Norris must work very hard and keep outscoring Piastri to maximize his winning chances.
Oscar Piastri is already the defending winner at the Azerbaijan GP, as his winning chances are improved further because of McLaren’s dominant challenger. However, Lando Norris has not made life easy for Piastri as he continues to give it his all to win races. Now, with the Baku race up next, Norris has already started working on his chances to win.
Lando Norris asserted that he was excited to be back racing in Baku. Norris emphasized that the street circuits put forth some different challenges, as the Baku City Circuit remained one of the more complicated tracks to excel on. The Briton revealed that he spent extended amounts of time at the McLaren Technology Center (MTC) and would try to put himself in the best position to take another win against Piastri this season.
I’m excited to get back to racing this weekend in Baku, Street circuits present different challenges and I can’t wait to get on track and test myself. I’ve returned to the MTC and I’m working hard to be in the best position to fight for another victory.

Oscar Piastri reveals ‘only goal’ against Lando Norris at Azerbaijan GP
Lando Norris will have to ensure that he does not commit silly errors that cause him to lose his running against Oscar Piastri any more than he already has. The 2025 season is far from over, as it would be too soon to write off Norris’ chances. Even Piastri isn’t celebrating his title victory so soon, as anything can happen down the season. As such, the Aussie reveals his only goal against the 25-year-old in Baku.
