Sky Sports pundit Jamie Chadwick has hailed Lando Norris ' recent performances, suggesting the McLaren driver has 'found something in his car'. The British racer secured pole position for the Brazilian Grand Prix after a stellar qualifying performance, clocking a fastest lap time of 1.09.511. He narrowly beat Mercedes ' Andrea Kimi Antonelli to the top spot, with Ferrari's Charles Leclerc rounding out the top three. Norris' McLaren teammate and main World Championship contender, Oscar Piastri , qualified fourth, followed by Racing Bulls' Isaak Hadjar and Mercedes' George Russell . Norris, who is currently on a high after winning the Mexico City GP, has been praised by Chadwick for his impressive form. "He's flying," Chadwick told Sky Sports . "He's found something. "It's hard to tell if it's Lando finding something or Oscar slipping away. For sure, he's found something in that car, he's able to be very methodical, very process orientated and at this stage of the championship, when the pressure is on, that's the exact focus." With a nine-point lead over Piastri in the race for the world title ahead of the Brazilian GP, Norris has also earned praise from Martin Brundle for performing "under pressure" during crucial moments. "He was under pressure, having locked his brakes on the first run then put in a great lap," Brundle commented. "Fastest in all three sectors, fastest in the speed trap and he delivered under immense pressure. He looks on great form again, as he did in Mexico." Meanwhile, Norris, after qualifying on pole, stated that he has 'lessened weaknesses' in recent weeks - a factor that has seen him overturn a 43-point gap between him and Piastri to lead with four races remaining. "I just feel like I'm doing a good job," said Norris, aged 25. "I'm driving well. Earlier in the season, I had some weaknesses, but I feel like I've reduced them. "They're not like 0.1 secs now - it's two hundredths. So when I can combine the good parts and have those not-so-bad parts, things go very well." Speaking after he took pole position for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix hours and extended his championship lead with victory in the sprint, Norris said: "I felt good. I was under a bit of pressure because I locked up on my first lap so a little bit more stressful than I would have liked but stayed cool and very happy. "Locking up into Turn One puts unnecessary pressure on myself but when I'm in a good rhythm, when I can out it all together, I'll be on top." While Piastri said: "Obviously, bit disappointed with the result but the car has looked quick this weekend, especially over a longer run, so hopefully I can take advantage of that tomorrow. "Ultimately, I'll try and take whatever opportunities arise and if I can make progress forward and put pressure on, I will. But yeah, got to get there first."
